Instagram has changed; are you changing with it?

Social media is like a revolving door of change. As soon as trends become trends, they end, and new trends start. It changes as soon as people think they’ve figured out the algorithm. So, here’s what you need to know when it comes to Instagram. 

Over the last two years, Instagram has changed dramatically. First, it has transformed into mostly a video-based platform. Instagram used to be about beautiful feeds with curated images, posting consistently, and engaging with followers within 30 minutes of a post going live. But now, SO. MUCH. HAS. CHANGED.  And the best advice I can give you – show your face. 

Show up in stories, show up on reels, and show up on IGTV. I mean that with every ounce of my being. Show your face.  Your clients, potential clients, and followers want to see YOU. They want to see who is behind the business and the brand. Hearing you talk and seeing your face allows them to see you’re a real human being, not just a beautiful photo. They want to feel like they know you so they can trust you, and the best way to do that is to show them WHO you are. 

And how do you do that?

Instagram has now become a substantial video-based platform. It also has competitors that it needs to keep up with (i.e., TikTok).  People still post on their feed, and beautifully curated ones are still more aesthetically appealing than those that are disorganized. But videos are where it’s at. Go ahead and tell me you’ve never got caught up in the scroll of reels, and next thing you know, it’s 2 am – I won’t believe you. 

Regardless of how you choose to move forward with your account, the most important factor is consistency. Whether you continue to show up in your beautifully curated feed with quality content or if you make the transition to video, be consistent.  Your followers want to connect with you, so don’t fall off the face of the IG-earth.
