This is the hill I will die on. You do NOT have to be on every platform doing all the things. Understanding your audience and where they hang out is KEY! I’m a firm believer that showing up on a couple of platforms consistently will always be better than showing up on all of them inconsistently. This will take some lag work but the results will be worth it. Focusing on where your audience is most active will ensure a more impactful and efficient outcome.  

 

3. Engage & Build Relationships

Social media is not just a broadcasting tool, it’s a two-way street. If your audience is engaging in your content, you have to engage back. Like their comments, answer their questions, and participate in the conversation. This will build meaningful relationships with your audience, which will build that know-like-trust factor. 

 

4. Be Consistent

Sometimes I feel like a broken record, but if you’ve been here for any length of time, you’ll know that I PREACH consistency. It is a MUST-DO for any social media strategy. The easiest way to be consistent is to plan ahead. We work with our clients to create content 2-4 weeks in advance, sometimes even longer. It means that you’ll show up even when life gets in the way. You’ll show up even when you forget to show up. It means that we’ve always got you covered so there’s no “omg it’s 10 pm and I haven’t posted anything today.” 

 

5. Utilize Those Analytics

Most social media platforms provide their own set of analytics right in the platform. Your job is to monitor the performance of your social media efforts and make the changes as necessary. Some key metrics you’ll want to focus on to start are engagement, reach, and conversion rates. By monitoring your analytics, you’ll know exactly what’s working and what isn’t.
